B-26 Marauder Pilot Remains Buried at Arlington

Barbara and I were asked to attend and take photos for the Marauder Historical Society at the burial ceremony of 2nd Lt. Stephen V. Biezis on August 14 at the Arlington National Ceremony. Bob Magruder and his wife Angie also represented the MHS at the burial that was conducted for members of the Biezis family. The Magruders ( Bob is the son of the designer of the Marauder) provided a beautiful wreath for the burial.

On December 23, 1944, Biezis and his crew of five were assigned to the 575 Bombardment Squadron, 391st Bombardment Group, 9th Air Force and were deployed to Germany. Biezis was the co-pilot of a B-26C Marauder that crashed after being struck by enemy fire while on a bombing mission against enemy forces near Ahrweiler, Germany.
