We had USO duty at Andrews, joined the American Legion Post 41, went to a picnic, and are preparing to go to a Nats game on Monday…busy week-end of September starting with Friday the 13th!
Saturday, Barbara and I went to the American Legion Post 41 in Silver Spring, MD after receiving an invitation from the Post to attend their 94th anniversary and fish fry dinner. We were met by some very friendly Post officials ( who of course wanted to sign us up for their post) who showed us around the post. I did not bring my camera but took a cell phone shot of an unusual figure in their outside garden. When we sat down to wait for the meal, a WWII vet who looked familiar sat down at our table. We found out that he was the same WWII on Eisenhower’s staff that we had met at the Leisure World Burger King in August!……we both were amazed at the coincidence!
Not only that, at the table next to us, we found out that another WWII vet from Silver Spring was there who had a brother in Austin…and yes……his brother had been to the first Austin Honor Flight that I had helped in 2012! He even a photo of him and his brother at the World War II Memorial!
Small world indeed!
My next photoshow will be of Mao’s picnic at Wheaton Regional park for his 9 year old daughter Bonipah held on September 15. It was full of great food, fun and laughs! Watch for it, it should be online by the 21st.
