Steve & Barbara meet Villages Honor Flight on 9/6

Barbara and I traveled to the World War II Memorial on September 6 to greet William "Barney" Barnhart and his Villages Honor Flight as they toured the D.C monuments. We gave his group nearly 50 US blinking flag pins to hand out to the WWII, Korean and Vietnam War vets. They were scheduled to arrive at the WWII Memorial at 1:30 pm, but due to weather and other logistical problems,...

He told us that my former military unit from Martinsburg WV would be there with an aircrew and a C-17. We could not find Patrick during the event, but I photographed the 167th AW aricrew of SRA Drake, MSGT Joe Windle, LTCOL Marty Timko, and CAPT Ryan Gavina. We gave them four flashing US flag pins and sent the photo to the unit's newspaper Plane Talk. We also viewed the unit's Super Connie in the hangar. We also talked to members of the Capital-Wing-of-the-Airmens-Preservation-Society World War II reinactor group. One was a Devastor fan and I told him of my meeting with George Gay of the Midway WWII battle. We aslo talked to the pilot and navigator of a Russian/ Czech built jet and a B-25 Mitchell bomber...

Barbara and Steve attend Marauder 2015 reunion in Tucson Arizona

Barbara and I attended the October 1-3 B-26 Marauder reunion held this year in Tucson, Arizona. About 90 MHS (Marauder Historical Society) members attended the three day event which included about a dozen WWII Marauder veterans and their families. During the second day of the reunion, participants were driven on a bus to the Pima Air and Space Museum and nearby AMARG boneyard of retired aircraft. We stayed in the luxurious Loews Ventana Canyon Resort ( a four star hotel) and ended the reunion with speaker former Texas Lt Governor David Dewhurst who is instrumental in the expansion of the Utah B-26 Museum with his Marauder father as a main feature. .....[caption id="attachment_1287" align="alignnone" width="300"]Martinsburg and Memphis C-5s retired at the Arizona boneyard Martinsburg and Memphis C-5s retired at the Arizona boneyard[/caption] [caption id="attachment_1288" align="alignnone" width="300"]WWII B-26 veteran Stan Welsh stands by his B-26 photo he took in WWII at...

Marvin tells jokes at Leisure World Comedy Club today

We wheeled dad from his assisted living home in Bedford Court to the Leisure World Comedy Club Tuesday meeting at Club House 2 today. The sessionwas being videotaped by Montgomery County for a cable showing later this month. Dad was even asked to tell a few of his favorite jokes ( bad idea for them!) and of course he obliged. They did get a few chuckles, and he may be on the county cable network..who knows how they edit the tape? But he enjoyed the session and we all heard some really nice ( and some very very old) jokes from the senior crowd![caption id="attachment_1281" align="alignnone" width="300"]Marvin tells jokes at the comedy club while being videotaped by Montgomery County for a cable show later this month Marvin tells jokes at the comedy club while being videotaped by Montgomery County for a cable show later this month[/caption] ...
